HOW TO INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY WHEN WORKING FROM HOME
April 18, 2021Productivity is what most strive to achieve after a long day of work. But it is extremely possible to spend a long day working and not achieving anything at all at the end of the day. In this blog post, I will be sharing our top tips on how to increase productivity whether you are a student or you work from home generally.
TIPS TO INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY WHEN WORKING FROM HOME
GET A DESIGNATED WORKSPACE
The thought of working from home will naturally make you feel relaxed. To be more productive working from home you need a workspace.
Skip the couch, bed, and floor.
If you don’t own a home office or a study room, you can make use of the dining table. Make sure you are seated on a chair and a table in front of you. Do not forget to bring with you all the things you need.
GET A PLANNER TO HELP STAY ORGANIZED
The next big step is to have a planner or a to-do list, listing every single task you must complete before the end of the day. You can also include time frames to help motivate you to work faster.
I usually create a list of tasks I would like to complete before the end of the day. This helps me keep track of my progress and know if I am being productive or not.
TUNE OUT ALL FORM OF DISTRACTIONS
If you want to get things done faster and properly then you need to stay focused. Make sure you are not using your phone when you are supposed to do something else.
Turn off all notifications so you won’t get disturbed with messages when working. If you work well with a little noise like music in the background then you should go for it. Make sure everything is right beside you so you don’t get distracted by moving around.
The aim is to stay focused for as long as possible without using your phone or get carried away with your thoughts.
MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO COMPLETE EACH TASK
The fourth tip is to motivate yourself. Remember why you are doing each task and bring out the inner you to motivate yourself.Do each task diligently and give it your all.
You can also use your stopwatch to motivate yourself into working more productively.
HAVE TIME STOPS
Most people can’t work or study for long hours so make sure you divide each task into hours. You can give each task an hour thirty-minute time frame.
This will make your work faster and also increase your productivity. With these time stops you can steadily track your progress to see if you are getting things done.
TAKE A BREAK WHEN YOU NEED TO
Make sure you pause in between tasks to take a break. Stretch your legs a little and get something to eat. You can have a thirty minutes break at least every four tasks completed fully.
For those who work on the creative side like bloggers, content creators can take longer breaks if you are experiencing burnouts.
If you don’t feel great you can always drop the tasks and continue later. Remember you need to be in a good mental state to be productive.
DRINK WATER AT REGULAR INTERVALS
I gave this its sub-topic because it is extremely important. I cannot stress how important it is to drink water.
Doing each task is taking a lot of mental energy and you need to stay hydrated to keep your cool. Make sure you have a glass of water close to you so you can always reach out when you need one.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE BEING PRODUCTIVE
Have you ever spent hours working and you find out at the end of the day that you got nothing done?
Common right.
Make sure when you complete each task fully you tick it off your to-do list. Make sure you are working smarter to be more productive.
Other productivity tips include;
1. Get simple tasks done in the morning like making breakfasts and doing chores.
2. Tackle the most difficult and mentally draining tasks first on your to-do list.
3. Arrange your to-do list according to their priority.
4. Avoid procrastination.
Final note
I hope these tips have been helpful. Remember that you can work hard and not be productive. Make sure you are getting things done. Don’t forget to pin, comment, and share this post.
