KeePass is a free open source password manager tool useful to manage all your passwords at one place locally on your PC with advanced security. In today’s world, everyone has to remember many passwords for Windows Network Login, your e-mail account, website’s FTP password, online passwords etc. As you use multiple passwords for different accounts (using single password is easy but serious problem if the password is being hacked), remembering is not easy. Using KeePass, you can overcome this problem of managing your passwords securely. You need to remember only one password to login to your KeePass.
Features
- Strong Security with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES, Rijndael) and the Twofish algorithm to encrypt password databases.
- SHA-256 encryption is used for password hash.
- One master password decrypts the complete database. Alternatively you can use key files which provide better security than master passwords in most cases by carrying the key file with you on USb stick.
- Additionally, you can lock the database to the current Windows user account so that the database can then only be opened by the same person who created it.
- Portable and No Installation Required: can be carried on an USB stick and run from another Windows System without installing it
- The password list can be exported to various formats like TXT, HTML, XML and CSV.
- You can import your passwords from CSV format prepared from other password managing tools like Password Keeper and Password Agent.
- KeePass can parse and import TXT outputs of CodeWalletPro (a commercial closed-source password safe application).
- KeePass password database consists of only one file which can be transferred easily from one computer to another.
- KeePass supports Password Groups to arrange as a tree
- Provides Time Fields and Entry Attachments
- Intuitive and Secure Windows Clipboard Handling
- Searching and Sorting is provided which is the most needed feature from specific entries in the database and groups
- Multi-Language Support (30 different languages)
- Besides storing passwords, KeePass can generate strong random passwords for your use (with your defined password output characters and number of characters)
- As KeePass is open source, it can be extended with plugins written by other people or you can extend it.
- 100% Free to use
You can download from KeePass.
KeyPass requires Microsoft .Net Framework (no need to install for Windows Vista & 7). KeyPass is also available for Mac OS & Linux.
